Good News

Brynlee passed her 3rd PKU test, a huge praise! Now we must face this new beast of her acid reflux. She goes in for her month checkup on February 4th. Time is going by too fast.

Updates

Brynlee is doing great so far! She is 23 days old. We had a tough start to last week, she was crying so much, and not sleeping so great. The vacuum cleaner and running water shush her up immediately ..lol..
We are pretty sure she's got acid reflux, she doesn't really like being on her back, especially after eating. So she is now a tummy sleeper, and she is much happier. I was super hesitant to let her do this, but it's what works.
She is VERY strong. She can control her head and neck like a pro, even changing positions at night. Her legs are strong too, we do exercises with her standing on our laps and she does so well already. The funniest/cutest thing yet, is she recognizes the feel of the bottle...even before it touches her mouth. She grabs onto the plastic and goes nuts, we love that. So we are so happy with her progress.
The only bad news is that she has taken 2 PKU tests, and we found out she failed one of them, but passed another. So she goes back to get another heal stick, and I'm NOT thrilled about this. It was horrible the last time ( they have to squeeze lots of blood out of her heal ) So please be praying that she passes this. If she fails, it means she has hyperthyroidism and could be on a limited diet the rest of her life, along with other things that I cant even talk about.
But we'll continue to trust in the Lord always.

PICTURES

Alot of people have asked me to post pics on here, but there are just too many! If you wanna see lots of pictures, go to Google Picasa and search " Brynlee Reece" There are plenty there :)
We are doing just fine. I gained 15 lbs with my pregnancy, and today is 10 days postpartum and I was weighed at the OB's office today, and I'm down 21 lbs. YIPPEE. I love this!
She is doing great. She is doin 5-6 hour stretches of sleep at night, eating great and rarely cries. She had her PKU ( blood draw in the heal ) and I've never heard her scream that way. It was SO sad. But she's at a good weight ( 8lbs 4oz at 10 days old now )

She's here!!

I did it! Brynlee Reece was born 9am Friday, I was induced with Cytotec ( pill ). I was at a about a 3cm to start, 70% effaced. 'Bout 3 hours later he broke my water because I hadn't really progressed, and gave me one more Cytotec. My contractions picked up pretty quickly. They weren't what I thought they'd be. They definately got hard, but I wasn't expecting pain that low.
By 3pm I had gone to about a 5cm, little more effaced...my doctor was trying to get me to do an epidural, but I really wanted to see how far I could go. So I got some pitocin to really speed things along.
I got the epidural at 4pm, because he didn't want me tired, so I said yes, and OMG was that a feeling. You feel a bit retarded ( not to offend ) but you cannot control your legs. It's funny. The actual epidural was nothin! Just a little pinch, I was so happy. It was trying to stay still during a contraction and them putting it in that was a challenge.
I quickly started dilating and effaced more.
At 8:30 I reached up there out of curiousity ( not suppose to by the way ) and her head was RIGHT there, I was like oh wow...ok I guess I can push.
I pushed for 30 minutes ( seemed like 10 ) and she was born at exactly 9pm. I had a 12 hour labor from start to finish and you know what? It FLEW by.
I had 6 family members in the room, ( Mom, Dad, Suz, Jay, Sayle and Steph Wolf ) 2 nurses and the doctor. That wasn't the original plan, but since it was the biggest room on the floor, and I was comfortable, I said what the heck. They all mean so much to us that it was hard to pick just a couple...and it made it that more emotional when she came out. It was fabulous.
Pushing just felt like I had to poop super bad, and I'm proud of myself. Thanks to Steph I knew what I had to do. ( love her )
She gave us a bad scare at the end, her heartrate dropped quickly, but it all turned out fine. In fact I didn't know that til afterwards.
The nurses at St. Francis were phenomenal. I mean it.

Overall? It was much much easier than I anticipated. Seriously. I'm praising the Lord tonight because I had such a sucky pregnancy, but He provided me with an AWESOME little girl, and a fabulous labor. Gallstones were one thousand times worse than my labor.
She is an incredible eater. She is 7lbs 13oz ( much smaller than we all thought, for being 3 days overdue and for family history of big babies ) She's got very little hair, which I love, and has the smallest cry I've ever heard.

Dan is a complete nut. I've never seen a grown man melt like him. ( ok, besides my own dad ).He was crying and crying and cant stop kissing her. That is the best. He is so in love.

Pics to come. I have yet to decide who's features she has lol
Thank you for your prayers, it got me through.
God is so good

Steph

FRIDAY, JANUARY 4th

Last night ( Thursday ) I was in so much pain from my back, that Sayle and Mom came down to my house literally just to push on my back/tailbone to get baby to move off of it. Finally at around 1:30 am she moved just a bit, enough to give me a break. I actually got a few hours of sleep. Only to wake up with even worse pain, I'm talkin crazy pain that freaked me out. So I hopped in the tub and laid in hot water for a while.
I went to my OB appt this afternoon and come to find out I'm 100% effaced and 2 cm dilated :) I was a happy girl. We decided that it'll be best to induce, due to my back pain not going away, no drugs are helping at all.
Sooo 8am Friday I am going to be induced! They'll start with Cytotec, break my water, Epidural then Pitocin as last resort...atleast this is the current plan. I've learned that you cant go into labor and delivery with a mindset of how something is going to go, because usually it doesnt go your way!
So please pray that I have a safe, smooth delivery. I cant wait to meet our girl.
